RottieFest - the place for Rotties to shake their Botties

RottieFest 2011 - Event Review

3 is the magic number!  And 2011 was the 3rd ever RottieFest since this unique events launch in 2009.

We saw old friends returning and plenty of new ones.  Those making a long weekend of it and stopping over in a Tent or Caravan were up on previous years as was the numbers attending the evening hogroast and bbq - so much so we ran out of food!  We recommend prebooking next year!

As always RottieFest is a get together of Rottie Lover's (and their dogs) and anyone else associated with or interested in the Rottweiler breed to meet up with like minded people for a fun filled relaxed day and to help raise awareness of the breed and also to raise money for the many Rottweilers that are helped by Keythorpe Rottie Rescue whom are based at the venue and who host the event as their annual fundraiser.

Also benefiting from this years fundraising at RottieFest was 4 Paws Rottweiler Rescue who raised £153 through their fab raffle and the Blue Greyhound.

Following on from 2010 and holding the event once again in June we had dry warm weather if a little breezy.  Once again a good turnout with everyone enjoying taking part and entering their dogs, be they Rottweilers or other breeds, in the various classes, be they serious or fun ones.

We had a fantastic display of heelwork to music by members of Wellingborough Dog Club all with Rottweilers strutting their stuff, and Wellidog also put on an agility course where visitors could have a go with their own dogs.

Graeme Hall's, aka the DogFather's demonstrations with his Rottweiler went down well and we had the Leicestershire Police drop in with their Dog Handling Unit sporting a GSD and Labrador (yes we know, no Rottie!).

The Sunday breakfast was popular once again with the added benefit this year of the new onsite wc and shower block allowing people to have a hot shower before packing up and heading off home.

Roll on RottieFest TwentyTwelve!  We'll see you there!
